Structure Fire Displaces Family

The family and their pet were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported during this incident.

A family is displaced after a structure fire at 619 10th Street began early in the morning of January 12th. Baldwin City Fire Department responded and were on scene at 5:54am. The fire was contained to a small interior area quickly, and then extinguished.

The family and their pet were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshal is currently working to determine the cause of the fire. According to Assistant Fire Chief Donnie Thomas, the American Red Cross is working with the victims to assess and provide for immediate needs.

Baldwin City Fire Department is grateful for the help of Palmyra Fire District 2, Willow Springs Fire District #3, Consolidated Fire District #1, Douglas County, KS, and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical during this incident.
