City of Lawrence reopens 19th Street from Arkansas to Alabama

As of this afternoon, the City of Lawrence has reopened 19th St. between Arkansas St. and Alabama St. Originally scheduled to reopen on  November 15, the City is excited to share that the project has concluded ahead of schedule!

All traffic control on 18th St. has also been removed, which should allow easier access to parking near Allen Fieldhouse ahead of tonight’s kickoff to the KU Men’s basketball season.

Now that 19th has reopened, crews will close Alabama from 19th to 20th in order to complete the remaining storm sewer south of 19th St. Contractors will then move east along 20th St and turn north onto Alabama to finish construction.

Crews may require a lane drop along 19th between Arkansas and Alabama next week as they work to finish driveways and sidewalk placements.
