Newsletter from the Superintendents 10/07/2022

Dear Parents, Patrons and Staff,

Silver Recognition – We received word this week that USD 434 had received the Kansas Can Star Recognition Silver Award from the Kansas State Department of Education for increasing our Graduation Rate. 94.3 % of our students graduated. Congratulations to all district staff and the Board of Education for your dedication to Inspiring and Empowering Every Charger Ever day.

No School Next Friday Oct. 14th and Monday Oct. 31st. Due to Teacher Prep Day and Parent Teacher Conferences.

Parent Teacher Conferences are as follows. Please make plans to attend.

                OAC - October 19th and 20th

                CAC – October 25th and 26th

                SAC – October 26Th and 27th

                SFTHS – November 1st and 2nd.

Board Goal # 6 School Safety and Security

                6.1 Provide a safe and secure learning environment in all district facilities.

                6.2 Use effective crisis plans to provide proactive readiness in case of an emergency.

USD 434 has a vacancy in the District Technology Department.  This is a 12 month position! Responsibilities include: assisting in the areas of computer technology maintenance, implementation, repair, and support. This position will provide tier one support for all agency hardware and software systems with an emphasis on quality user support.  This position may also be called upon to participate in other initiatives that benefit USD 434. Shout Outs and Congratulations

Congratulations to the Junior High Volleyball teams on a great season. The girls showcased sportsmanship and teamwork throughout their fall season, and competed to their best ability day in and day out. Thank you to our Junior High volleyball coaches, Ann Fawl, Cyndee Washington, and Ashley Michaelis. They have each poured a lot of their time and energy into our student athletes and bring a positive, upbeat energy to practice and competitions each and every day. Way to go Chargers!

Shout out to Stephanie Bannister for always helping us kitchen staff at OAC! We really appreciate everything that you do!   

Shout out to my OAC kitchen coworkers for always working so hard every day! I couldn't do it without you! 

Madison Kurtz (OAC kitchen manager.)  

1.      On October 5th, the Santa Fe Trail Charger Band competed at the Capital City Marching Festival hosted by Washburn University. All the hard work paid off for the students and they 

            received the Visual Effect Award, Music Award, and Superior Achievement Award!  Great job to all involved.

2.      Congratulations to the Varsity Football team for their win over Osawatomie!

3.      Congratulations to the JV Football team for their win over Osawatomie!

4.      Good luck to the Cross Country team at Osage City this week!

5.      Congratulations to the Volleyball team for defeating Burlington and Osawatomie, remaining unbeaten in Pioneer League play, with 4 matches left.  Good luck to them at the Council

             Grove Invitational Saturday.

6.      Good luck to the Girls’ Golf team as they play in the 4A Regional Golf Tournament hosted at the Shawnee County Country Club on Monday, October 10, 2022.

7.      Great job to the high school choir.  They held their annual fall concert this week.
