City installing revisions to Old West Lawrence traffic calming pilot

The week of October 10 (weather permitting), the City of Lawrence will be installing revised traffic calming devices for the third round of the Old West Lawrence traffic calming pilot program. This installation is based on the recommended plan from the members of the Old West Lawrence Traffic Safety Team, and a map is available here to review.

The temporary configuration will be removed in November 2022 due to winter weather considerations.

The City of Lawrence will issue a survey to residents in the middle of the installation to evaluate their response to the new design. That survey will be shared on the Lawrence Listens website the week of October 17: lawrenceks.org/listens/surveys.

The City anticipates presenting the survey feedback and their data collection findings — along with a recommendation for next steps —to the Multi-Modal Transportation Commission (MMTC) on Monday, Dec. 5. At that time, the MMTC will decide if they want to proceed with a recommendation to the Lawrence City Commission.

The Neighborhood Traffic Management Pilot program web page has details further details on the program.
