After a two-year hiatus, Lawrence Transit is teaming up again with the Lawrence Public Library to provide a special “Books and Buses” storytime. This collaboration between the library and the transit system will feature stories, crafts, and a real trip on the bus.
Storytime will include books about transportation, followed by a bus-themed craft project. Children and their families are invited to board a Lawrence Transit bus for a short trip around downtown. This year, the featured vehicle will be the city’s new 100% electric bus.
“We are excited to be part of a fun experience like this for kids in our community,” said Adam Weigel, Transit & Parking Manager. “The bus provides a lot of freedom for people in Lawrence not yet of driving age, so we hope this introduction to young readers can help them soon become young riders.”
When: Tuesday, Oct. 11 and Friday, Oct. 14
Time: Storytime begins at 10:30. Groups will take turns completing the craft project and boarding the bus for a trip around downtown.
Where: Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. Storytime will be held in the auditorium.
