Superintendent Newsletter September 2, 2022

Dear Parents, Patrons and Staff;

During the 2021-2022 school year the USD 434 Board of Education went through a process of developing goals and a plan of action to implement these new goals. These goals and action plans will be a major focus for all of us this year and into the future as we strive to provide quality learning experiences, improve outcomes, and increase success for students in USD 434. Over the next few weeks we will discuss each of the new goals and action plans. We believe that is critical for our parents, and the community to know what is happening in our schools and how we are putting these new goals into action. Building and District Administrators will also report to the board of education each month on the progress that is being made in the implementation of the goals.

Board Goal #1 is District Communications – Improve Communications to all Stakeholders/Shareholders.

The Action Plan includes:

  1. Increase parent participation in communications
  2. Educate parents on how to use our communications
  3. Communicate with families regarding classroom instruction, curriculum and activities
  4. Communicate through a variety of media
  5. Evaluate the effectiveness of school communications
With the start of the new school year we want parents to always feel welcome to communicate with their student’s Classroom Teachers and Principals, attend back to school nights, take part in school activities, sign up to receive school messenger, text messages and email. If you have questions about what your child is learning at school ask for additional information or visit the classroom. We are currently working to revise and update our district website and make it more user friendly. We want the website to be the face of our district. As parents, you know your children better than we ever will, share information that we need to know and we will do the same for you.

The PTA National Standards for Family-School Partnerships: Kindergarten to Grade 12 include:

  1. Welcoming All Families
  2. Communicating Effectively
  3. Supporting Student Success
  4. Speaking up for Every Child
  5. Sharing Power
  6. Collaborating with Community
Working together we will make a positive difference for all students.
