Message From SFT Superintendents

Dear Parents, Patrons, Students, and, Staff,

Last week I mentioned our new BOE goals and the continued discussion of these goals and action plans that follow.  We believe it is critical for our families and community to be aware of all that is happening at Santa Fe Trail. Each building is working hard to develop those plans of action that will support school improvement and growth.  School improvement is a never-ending process.  The work continues every day as we learn more, make adjustments, and strive to do what is best for our students. Building and District administrations will report to the BOE each month on their progress.  Working together we will make a positive difference for all students.

Board Goal #2 is Student Achievement– Improve teaching and learning through research-based strategies that support student post-secondary success

The Action Plan includes:

  1. Increase student learning opportunities
  2. Increase stakeholder engagement in student learning
  3. Develop and implement an action plan to address student learning loss and social-emotional needs due to the pandemic.
  4. Analyze and improve current student achievement levels
  5. Develop and align an effective scope and sequence for all core subjects K-12
  6. Continue to implement the 4 principles of redesign
  7. Analyze and improve practices to prepare for post-secondary success
  8. Develop an effective alumni tracking system to improve post secondary success
  9. Review and analyze all student activities and athletic programs, and facility to support student achievement
STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Job well done to all athletics and activities the past few weeks. It is so exciting to watch our students learn and grow both in and out of the classroom.  Please continue to support our Chargers at all of their events.   Good luck to our High School football team tonight against Prairie View.  Good luck to our JV Volleyball tomorrow at Highland Park.

SHOUT OUTS

Shout-out to Mrs. Morris at OAC. I have a kindergartner there and Mrs. Morris does such a good job of greeting the kids in the morning and treating them with such kindness, even if they’re not in her class. She calls my daughter by name and in turn she is so excited to greet Mrs. Morris in the mornings because of her kindness and eagerness to start the day. She goes above and beyond. I really appreciate that from her.

I'd like to celebrate the extracurricular work of our KAY, StuCo, Quiz Bowl, and FBLA sponsors; Alicia Amborski, Kim Dayhoff, Rob Colvin, Ashley Michaelis, and Tiffany Burget.  These teachers work beyond the duty day to give our students leadership experience and exposure to learning beyond the classroom setting.

I also want to celebrate the hard work Chelsie Masters has been putting in at our school office.  Chelsie keeps atop PowerSchool needs, teacher needs, student needs, and admin needs.  Thank you, Chelsie!  Your knowledge and experience are greatly appreciated.

Our SFTJH 7th and 8th-grade volleyball teams battled through some very competitive matches Tuesday night.  They never gave up and had great attitudes as they persevered through some difficult losses.  I am proud of you girls.  That's the Charger Way!  I'm confident we will get Prairie View next time.  Keep working hard.  It truly does matter.

I appreciate Carrie Mugridge so very much.  She is focused on instructional development of our teachers, students, and staff.  Carrie is always willing to support learning throughout the district.

And, finally a huge thank you to our SFTJH staff who are focused on finding the many positive things our students do each day.  You are simply incredible humans.

~Jodi Testa

Thank you to the high school staff and students.  They have started planning and preparing for the Homecoming celebration next week.

~Patrick Graham and Regan Erickson

Thank you to all first responders and SROs, the SFT transportation department, Tanner Black, Jim Mercer, Brown’s Super Service, school counselors, administration, office managers, school nurses, teachers, BOE members, Tech. Department, families, community members, and everyone that supported both on-sight and off-sight needs as we navigated an unfortunate bus accident this morning.  Although it was a minor accident, the safety of our students and staff is the number one priority.  Shout out to everyone for your hard work and support!

~Faith Flory

Shout out to Lane Wiley and Megan Pena for getting all back-to-school tech needs met and supported.  Thank you for your hard work and determination.
