2022 Summer High School Band Camp Information:

2022 Summer High School Band Camp Information:

Hi Band!

I hope you are enjoying a productive summer and staying out of trouble. The time is passing quickly for me, and the start of the school year will soon be here. With that in mind, I am writing to provide you the details of our upcoming summer band camp. Camp will be held August 8th-12th (see detailed schedule on back). We will perform at the Overbrook parade on the evening of Saturday, August 13th.

At this year’s parade, we will perform along with other bands from around the area!  The money we are given will be put in the band account for things such as parties, food, upcoming trips, ect.I cannot stress enough the importance of having every member in attendance AND ON TIME at camp.  Our success as a group depends on the level of commitment from each individual member so please make sure to communicate with your parents, work, and any other commitments you may have prior to camp.  I have been very pleased with our near perfect attendance in years past.

Please ensure you have everything needed for camp (instrument, reeds, valve oil, etc.).  Everyone must have a lyre (pronounced-liar) and flip folder by the 1st day of camp. These are instrument specific and available at any of the area music stores. I have provided phone numbers for Manning Music and Flint Hills Music on the back if you have any questions on prices, brands, location, etc.  Also, please make sure to dress appropriately. We will more than likely start inside for the first part of camp, but it’s a safe bet it will be hot when we move outside. A t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes should be sufficient. NO FLIP FLOPS!   Again No Flip Flops

FOR PARENTS -We are planning on having our annual cookout and parent meeting on that Friday for the band members and their families. There will be a performance following dinner. Hamburgers and hotdogs, chips, and water will be provided. Also, please make sure you child has completed the t shirt order form by July 30th. The form link can be found on the next page.

Important information for the upcoming year as well as instructions for the new parent communication format will be given that evening so I strongly encourage at least one parent to attend. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at lquilling@usd434.us . I look forward to seeing all of you!

Sincerely,

Mr. Quilling

Mrs. Rice
