University of Kansas recently issued the following announcement.
The Department of Theatre & Dance's University Theatre presents As You Like It by William Shakespeare, adapted and directed by Professor Mechele Leon.
Having escaped a vindictive and capricious tyrant, exiles take refuge in a forest where they find freedom and love. Through an original adaptation that brings the play into the 20th century, this production highlights the clash between political oppression and individual expression. Both musical and prosaic, this timeless pastoral comedy rendered in a new light takes us on a journey into the natural world to embolden our imagination, spirit, and faith in the human condition.
The play will be performed in the Crafton-Preyer Theatre at Murphy Hall. The Crafton-Preyer Theatre is equipped with infrared hearing devices for persons needing hearing assistance. Audio description for visually impaired may be requested via KU Audio-Reader or by contacting the box office in Murphy Hall.
Discounts for KU retirees, senior citizens, KU students, faculty & staff, children and groups.
Ticket prices: $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens, and KU faculty/staff, $10 for children. KU student tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
