The Kansas Jayhawks women’s basketball team will play at home against the Houston Cougars on Saturday, February 14, in a Big 12 Conference matchup. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT at Allen Fieldhouse and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Radio coverage will be available through the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield.
Kansas holds a 15-11 overall record and is 5-9 in conference play. The team is coming off a close 70-65 loss to No. 16 Texas Tech in Lubbock, marking their fourth defeat this season against ranked opponents and the third by five points or fewer. Despite being four games under .500 in league play, Kansas maintains a positive scoring margin of +1.1 points per game within the conference.
Recent home victories over BYU (81-60) and Cincinnati (80-71) have improved Kansas’ record at Allen Fieldhouse to 10-4 for the season. The Jayhawks are currently ranked No. 49 in the NET Rankings, which places them ninth among Big 12 schools with four regular-season games remaining.
Junior guard S’Mya Nichols led Kansas with 15 points against Texas Tech and moved up to No. 13 on KU’s all-time scoring list with a career total of 1,529 points. She also went nine-for-nine from the free throw line during that game, entering the Top 10 in Big 12 history for career free throws made with a total of 560.
Freshman forward Jaliya Davis contributed 14 points at Texas Tech and was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the sixth consecutive week, tying Ayoka Lee’s conference record set during the 2019-20 season. Davis is averaging 22.2 points per game in league play and leads the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 64.2 percent.
Senior guard Elle Evans scored double figures with three three-pointers against Texas Tech, her fourth straight game achieving multiple threes and her nineteenth such performance this season. Evans currently leads NCAA Division I women’s basketball in three-point shooting accuracy at nearly fifty percent for the year.
Sophomore forward Regan Williams added ten points and six rebounds at Texas Tech—her eighth double-digit scoring effort this season—and averages just under nine points per game along with over five rebounds.
Kansas faces Houston as part of its annual “Jayhawks for a Cure” event promoting cancer awareness coinciding with Valentine’s Day festivities; fans are encouraged to wear pink attire to support both causes.
The Jayhawks hold an undefeated all-time record against Houston (8-0), including three wins at Allen Fieldhouse and two since Houston joined the Big 12 Conference last season under head coach Matthew Mitchell.
