Kansas softball will continue its Big 12 schedule as the Jayhawks travel to Orlando, Florida, to play a three-game series against the No. 24/22 UCF Knights from April 17-19. The first game is scheduled for Friday, April 17, at 5 p.m. Central Time.

The matchup is important for both teams’ standings in the conference. Kansas currently holds third place in the Big 12 with a record of 29–13 overall and 10-5 in conference play, while UCF sits in fifth place heading into the weekend series.

After a recent midweek loss to Missouri by a score of 4-2, Kansas aims to regain momentum. The Jayhawks lead the Big 12 in doubles and rank among the top three teams in several offensive categories including batting average, runs scored, hits, slugging percentage, RBIs, home runs, triples and total bases. They also enter this weekend with an undefeated record of five wins and no losses in conference series and have won six consecutive series overall.

“These (midweek games) are the kind of games throughout the year that make us better,” Kansas head coach Jennifer McFalls said following the Missouri contest. “We have to learn and grow from this. We can’t be satisfied or leave here hanging our heads. We’re too good of a team, and we have a huge weekend ahead of us. I think the loss helps us get prepared mentally, and it’s going to be a fight this weekend against UCF.”

In their last game against Missouri, Kansas tied it up late but ultimately lost after Missouri hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

UCF enters with an overall record of 33-11-1 (10-7-1 Big 12). The Knights are led offensively by junior infielder Sierra Humphreys who leads her team with a .394 batting average along with team highs in hits (50) and RBIs (48). Seven starters on UCF’s roster are hitting over .300 for the season.

Fans can watch Friday’s opening game on ESPN+, with live stats available through Kansas Softball’s X account.

Looking ahead after this road trip, Kansas will return home to face Iowa State at Arrocha Ballpark from April 24-26.
