Kansas men’s golf has announced the signing of Nicolas Vidal Reig from Spain for its 2026 recruiting class. Head coach Jamie Bermel shared the news on Monday.
Vidal Reig holds the No. 2 ranking among Spanish golfers and is a member of the Spanish National Team. His record includes several top finishes, such as third place at the Copa Andalucia Masculina in 2026, fifth at the Spanish Men’s Amateur in 2025, and ninth at the Spanish International U18 Boys event in 2025. He has also won two tournaments: the Cope Region de Murcia in 2026 and the Canarian Junior Championship in 2025.
Coach Bermel commented on Vidal Reig’s addition to the team: “Nicolas is a late addition to the team. We had a spot open up late, and we believe we took full advantage of the situation and landed a really nice player.” He continued, “I think Nicolas can come in and have a chance to compete right away for a spot on the travel team. He has made a lot of progress in the last 12 months. He is ranked second in Spain U18 and continues to improve. We really believe his best golf is still in front of him.”
Vidal Reig will join Jack Swift and Brady Rapp as part of Kansas’ incoming class for next season.
The Kansas men’s golf team will return to competition March 9-10 at the Sea Island Invitational, held at Seaside Golf Course in Georgia.
