No. 14 Kansas will face Arizona State on Tuesday, March 3, at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on FS1.

Kansas, with a record of 21-8 overall and 11-5 in conference play, is coming off an 84-61 loss to No. 2 Arizona on February 28. Arizona State holds a record of 15-14 overall and is 6-10 in conference games. The Sun Devils recently ended a two-game losing streak by defeating Utah 73-60 on February 28 and have a home record of 9-5 this season.

Kansas currently shares fourth place in the Big 12 standings with Iowa State and trails Texas Tech and Houston by one game for second place.

The series between Kansas and Arizona State is tied at six wins each. Kansas won the most recent matchup, 74-55, on January 8, 2025, at Allen Fieldhouse.

Under head coach Bill Self since the 2003-04 season, Kansas has posted a record of 139-24 following a loss, including a perfect mark of seven wins without a defeat after losses this season.

Kansas leads NCAA Division I in strength of schedule. During Bill Self’s tenure, the team has finished first in this category six times: in the years 2005, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2023.

Kansas ranks No.15 in the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET), which places them fifth among Big 12 teams. The Jayhawks’ seven Quad 1 victories are tied for second-most in the conference; Arizona leads with thirteen such wins.

Statistically, Kansas averages 76.1 points per game with a scoring margin of plus-7.4 and collects an average of 38.1 rebounds per contest. The team also averages 14.4 assists, five steals, and six blocked shots per game. Defensively, Kansas leads the Big 12 in field goal percentage defense (38.7%), ranking sixth nationally; three-point field goal percentage defense (29.7%), ranking thirteenth nationally; and blocked shots (6.0), ranking fifth nationally.

Freshman guard Darryn Peterson leads Kansas with an average of 19.7 points per game and has made fifty three-pointers over eighteen games played this season. Peterson appears on several national award watch lists: “Wooden Award Late Midseason Watch List,” “Naismith Trophy Late-Season list,” and “Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Midseason Top Ten.” He scored twenty-four points against Arizona on February 28 and has recorded eight games with twenty or more points this season.

Senior guard Tre White recently scored a season-high twenty-three points against No. 5 Houston on February 23 and is averaging eighteen points over his last two games. White has five double-doubles this season while averaging fourteen points per contest; he ranks second on the team for three-pointers made (forty-five) and leads with one hundred sixteen free throws made—his free throw percentage (86.6%) is second-best in the Big 12.

Sophomore center Flory Bidunga features on both the Naismith Trophy Late-Season List and Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List as well as being named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year top ten list. Bidunga averages thirteen point eight points per game along with nine rebounds per outing—both leading marks for KU—and has achieved eleven double-doubles so far this year (second most in Big 12). He also tops both KU’s stats for blocks (seventy-eight) and field goal percentage (64.8%), placing third nationally for blocks per game (2.69) as well as ninth nationally for field goal percentage.

Senior guard Melvin Council Jr., who averages thirteen point nine points during league play (thirteen point five overall), leads Kansas with one hundred forty-six assists and twenty-nine steals this season; his assist-to-turnover ratio stands at fourth best within the Big 12 conference.

Redshirt-freshman forward Bryson Tiller has registered two double-doubles over his last four appearances—including an eleven-point ten-rebound effort versus Houston—and averages eight point seven points alongside six rebounds per contest across twenty-six starts this year.

Other regular contributors include redshirt-sophomore guards Elmarko Jackson (4.8 ppg), Jamari McDowell (3.7 ppg), freshman Kohl Rosario (3.1 ppg), and senior Jayden Dawson (2.2 ppg).

Looking ahead, Kansas will conclude its regular season by hosting rival Kansas State on Saturday, March 7 at Allen Fieldhouse; tip-off is set for 1 p.m., televised by CBS.

Kansas holds a commanding lead over Kansas State in their all-time series—204 wins to ninety-seven—the highest win total by one program over another in NCAA Division I history.

Since coach Larry Brown’s arrival during the1983–84 campaign, Kansas has not lost its final home game—a streak now spanning forty-two seasons.
