Kansas Jayhawks women’s swimming and diving team achieved a 211-89 victory over Iowa State Cyclones, concluding their regular season before heading into the Big 12 Championship.

“Today was a challenge and the team handled the day incredibly well,” said head coach Clark Campbell. “Coming off the bus and competing right away takes immense mental toughness and we were gritty from the first to last event. It was a good way to finish up the regular season and now our focus is squarely on the Big 12 Championship.”

The meet began with KU’s A relay team—Lydia Lafferty, Ryan Johnston, Anna Gearhart, and Sophie Wallace—winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.07.

In distance events, sophomores Gabi Dyer (10:11.72) and Tait Haag (10:17.33) finished first and second in the 1000-yard freestyle, while freshman Aubrey Tuthill placed fourth.

Freshman Ivy Solt won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.33; senior Hailey Farrell came in second, followed by sophomore Taylor Cloutman in fourth.

Lafferty also won the 100-yard backstroke at 55.31 seconds. Bradie Ward finished third, with Kelsey Healy taking fourth.

Ryan Johnston took second in the 100-yard breaststroke behind an Iowa State swimmer; Molly Robinson was fourth (1:07.25), followed by Alayna Henage in fifth.

Sammy Cummins led Kansas in the 200-yard butterfly with a win at 2:04.71; Maya Lambert was third (2:05.85), Gearhart finished fourth.

Kansas swept all three podium spots in both the 50-yard freestyle—Caroline Blake (23.98), Mia Waldron (24.03), Sophie Wallace (24.21)—and later repeated this feat in other events such as the 200-yard backstroke where Ward, Madison Wagner, and Healy placed first through third respectively.

Wallace earned her second win of the day by claiming first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.74 seconds; Blake and Waldron took second and third place again.

Johnston added another runner-up finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.88). Aidan Howze placed fourth, Robinson sixth.

Dyer secured her second win of the meet by finishing first in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:58.30; Solt came next at runner-up (5:02.12).

Lafferty collected her third individual win with a time of 55.54 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly; Gearhart was runner-up, Ella Hansen finished third.

Farrell posted a winning time of 2:05.61 in the 200-yard IM; Wagner was third, Lambert fifth.

To close out competition, Kansas’ A squad—Blake, Wallace, Waldron, Lafferty—won the final event, sealing their dual meet record for this season at five wins to one loss.

On diving boards, senior Lize van Leeuwen scored second on three-meter dive (314.40 points); Kelly Estebo took fourth while Shiyun Lai placed fifth but later won first on one-meter dive with van Leeuwen again as runner-up.

Kansas will compete next at Greensboro Aquatic Center for the Big 12 Championship from February 24–28 against other conference teams.
